Un­der­taken given in court to keep the peace

TWO cou­ples gave un­der­tak­ings be­fore Judge Kevin Kil­rane to keep the peace fol­low­ing an in­ci­dent near a su­per­mar­ket.

Be­fore the Court were Michael and Nora Sweeney of 38 Old Bun­do­ran Road and John Sweeney and Ker­inza Scan­lon of 63 Gar­avogue Vil­las who were sum­moned for en­gag­ing in threat­en­ing, abu­sive and in­sult­ing be­hav­iour at Dunnes Stores, Cran­more Road on March 22nd 2017. Garda De­nis Fitzger­ald had gone to the store at 11.03am where he saw the de­fen­dants en­gage in be­hav­iour likely to pro­voke a breach of the peace. Two of the de­fen­dants’ daugh­ters were en­gaged in an al­ter­ca­tion and Gar­daí had to sep­a­rate them.

The de­fen­dants were all told to leave the area.

Judge Kevin Kil­rane re­manded the de­fen­dants on con­tin­u­ing bail of €300 each to ap­pear at Sligo District Court on Novem­ber 29 th next.

They were told to keep the peace and be of good be­hav­iour dur­ing that time. Lib­erty was granted to the Gar­daí to re-en­ter the mat­ter.
