RECENT DEATH

The death took place at Sligo University Hospital on May 7 of Brendan O’Connor, Clonsilla, Gurteen and formerly of Durrow, Co Laois. A nice, friendly and popular member of the community he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

His remains reposed at Perry’s Funeral Home on Wednesday evening and were removed to St Patrick’s Church – following Mass of the Resurrecti­on on Thursday celebrated by parish priest Fr Joe Caulfield. Burial took place in Gurteen Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife Kitty, sons Kenneth and Brendan, daughter Karen, grandchild­ren, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, extended family, neighbours and friends to whom deepest sympathy is extended. May he rest in peace.

REMEMBRANC­E MASS

As the 20th anniversar­y of the tragic drowning in Strandhill of Tommy Coyle, Michael Higgins and Bobby Taylor occurs in May this year the Eastern Harps GAA Club have organised a remembranc­e Mass to be held in Gurteen Church on Saturday, May 19, at 6 p.m.

CONFIRMATI­ON

The Sacrament of Confirmati­on in Gurteen will be held on Saturday, May 26, at 11 a.m.

RECENT BIRTH

Congratula­tions and good wishes to Gary and Linda Mannion-Smith on the birth on Sunday, April 29, of their son Koa Andrew, a brother to Abigail and Rian.

CEMETERY MASSES

The annual Mass in Killaraght New Cemetery will be on Sunday, June 3, at 9.30 a.m. The annual Mass in Templerona­n Cemetery will be on Sunday, August 5, at 1 p.m. and the annual Mass in Killaraght Old Cemetery will be on August 12 at 1 p.m.

BINGO

Bingo is held every Friday night in Gurteen Hall at 8.30 p.m. The jackpot is now €2,000 on 46 calls – €400 lotto raffle – and good prizemoney – all proceeds are shared between Eastern Harps GAA Club and the hall committee for the upkeep of the hall.
