Man (21) com­ing from ‘house of in­ter­est’

A young man was seen com­ing from a house of in­ter­est to the drugs unit, In­spec­tor Donal Sweeney told Sligo District Court.

Luke Melly of 19 Cran­more Drive was stopped at Con­nolly Street on March 30 th 2017 hav­ing come from a house close by Gar­daí. He at­tempted to swal­low some­thing but it was re­trieved from his mouth and he ad­mit­ted that it was cannabis.

Melly was charged with pos­ses­sion of the drug and with ob­struc­tion un­der the Drugs Act.

There were also a num­ber of other drug pos­ses­sion charges against the de­fen­dant ad­journed from a pre­vi­ous court. These were for of­fences at Cran­more Road, Cran­more Place in March 2017 and Mill­brook Apart­ments and Stephen Street Car Park in Novem­ber 2016 where the de­fen­dant also faced a knife pos­ses­sion charge.

All mat­ters were ad­journed by Judge Kevin Kil­rane to Sligo District Court on Novem­ber 8th for con­tin­ued mon­i­tor­ing and to al­low for the prepa­ra­tion of a new pro­ba­tion re­port.
