Murder victim’s children to go to Poland to live with grandmother
THE three young sons of murder victim Natalia Karaczyn have moved to Poland for good.
The children, aged 2, 5 and 9 years were brought to their parents home country on Sunday to be reared by their grandmother and uncle.
It’s believed moving to Poland gives the children the only chance of a normal childhood where their mother’s murder has gone largely unreported among the wider public there.
Before they left, Gardaí from Sligo Garda Station organised a few special treats for the boys before they left Ireland for good.
The children were treated to a fishing trip with Ewing’s Boat Charters around Sligo Bay, a family meal in the Clayton Hotel, a tour of the Coastguard Helicopter and a meet and greet with Sligo Fire Brigade. An anonymous donor also paid for a bouncy castle and “a few other surprises” last Thursday and Friday.
“The eldest son said he’d never be able to go fishing with his Dad - if that doesn’t break your heart nothing will,” a local Garda source told The Sligo Champion.
Judge Kevin Kilrane referred to the fund at last Thursday’s sitting of Sligo District Court:“If I can put some monies to that I will do that. It’s a very worthy event to relieve their obvious distress and trauma. It’s a very good idea by Sgt Gerry Moylan who will keep a full and complete record of it. If there are any monies left over they will be donated to Cancer Care.”
One young defendant before the court agreed to donate ¤100 to the cause.
The body of Natalia (30) was recovered near Lough Gill shortly after 10am on Tuesday 1st May following a large-scale search effort by local gardaí.
The young mother had been strangled to death. Her husband Rafal Karacyzn is currently in custody on a charge of murdering his wife at their home in Crozon Park, Sligo on Sunday 29 th April.
