Dumping costs ¤47,000

THE Council has been given grant aid of €47,000 to clean up illegal and unauthorised dumping in three areas in Sligo.

It received €25,000 to remove approx. 35 tonnes of waste including tyres from Carrowntemple Bog, in Gorteen;

€15,000 to remove 150 tonnes of waste from Carrane Hill Bog at Arigna; and €7,000 to remove approx 10 tonnes of waste from the Rathbraughan Park area in Sligo town.

Cllr Declan Bree said the level of unauthorised dumping was “shocking and clearly needs to be addressed.”
