Winning performances
SLIGO athletes were in impressive form at the Irish Life Health Connacht Schools Track and Field event recently, with an array of medals being won.
The events in Athlone IT saw numerous athletes from schools throughout the county taking part.
Coach Dermot McDermott said it was a memorable day for everyone and he was very proud of the Sligo athletes achievements.
He said; “There were great results and medals galore in Athlone with multiple podiums and well done to all of the athletes.”
There were fantastic performances from numerous Sligo athletes.
Lauren Cadden (Ursuline College) won Gold in 100m and 200m.
Erin Taheny (St Mary’s College Ballysadare) won gold in 200m.
Ellen Kilcoyne (St Attracta’s CS)won Gold in 100m and Silver in Long Jump. Kate Hosey (St Attracta’s CS) won Gold in 100m and Long Jump. Michael Morgan (Summerhill College) won Gold in the 3000m event.
Craig McLoughlin (Summerhill College) won Gold in the Long Jump. Dion won Gold in 800m.
Eala McDermott (Mercy College) won Gold in steeple and Silver in 800m.
Leo Doherty (Summerhill College) won Senior 400m and 800m.
Shane Mooney (also Summerhil College) won Silver in 100m Senior. James Burns (Summerhill College) won Junior 100m.
Elizabeth Tighe (Colaiste Muire) won Silver in the High Jump and Bronze in the 75m Hurdles.
Eimear Connolly came 4th in the 100m, Aaron Brennan was 4th in the Steeple Chase and Oisín Brennan was 4th in the Long Jump.
