Lawn Bowls Club holding Open Day as it celebrates special first anniversary
SLIGO Lawn Bowls Club which was launched last July are now celebrating their 1st anniversary with an Open Day.
The event is to help create more awareness of this wonderful sport and the lawn Bowls facility at Cleveragh Regional Park.
The club has made huge strides over the last year with support from Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership’s Sligo East City Community Sports Hub project, Sligo County Council Parks Department and Healthy Ireland Fund.
This includes a weekly programme facilitating 40 members, the installation of outdoor sheltered seats, steps onto the green, a portaloo, storage container on site for the club’s equipment and improved access to the facility. The club now hope to continue to grow the sport locally and increase the number of players over the summer months. Adult Beginner Lessons are currently available led by a Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership Lawn Bowls coach every Tuesday from 7-9pm and Saturday 10.30am-12.30pm. Adults are welcome to come along to these sessions in the build up to the open day. The club look forward to showcasing this game at the open day and providing taster sessions for new comers.
