DARKNESS INTO LIGHT

The first Darkness Into Light Walk took place in Dromore West on Saturday, May 12, at 4.15 a.m. with over 400 people registering to walk for Pieta House to help with suicide prevention and selfharm. The organising committee would like to thank all the workers on the various CE Schemes and Sligo County Council, who helped to maintain the walk route. Thank you to our Safety Officers, Civil Defence, James Foy Auto Services and Lang’s Garage for the use of safety vehicles and making sure all safety measures were met that morning. Thank you for all the lovely ladies (and lads) who helped with light decorations.

To all our stewards for coming out in force on the morning to make sure all areas where covered, traffic was controlled, water was provided and that everyone’s safety was priority. For helping with the light display, climbing trees and taking it down again after the event was over. To our wonderful catering team and to all the wonderful people who donated baked goods for the morning, all was delicious.

Thank you to Dromore West NS for the fantastic Art Work – your pictures really captured the morning and the whole aspect of Darkness into light. You are all brilliant little artists in the making. To the members of the Templeboy and Dromore West choir who sang their beautiful hearts out during the walk. Your voices were absolutely beautiful and so heart-warming to hear while on our journey, special mention to Geraldine Foy, who did a spectacular job decorating the trailer that the singers were on.

Also, a big thank you to, everyone who helped on the morning with registration, to Eoin Conlon for providing the lovely heart felt and uplifting music on the morning, to James Burke and Steve Rogers for capturing amazing shots, to all the businesses and residents in the village who decorated and shined a light on their windows to brighten up the walk a little more.

Thank you for participating in Darkness Into Light Dromore West. Without you all it would have not have been what it was. Ye really did come out in full force and embraced every moment. We have been overwhelmed with all your support and kind comments.

On behalf of Pieta House – thank you for supporting this worthwhile cause.

We really hope you enjoyed it and, as we truly learnt over the last few days, never ever give up hope, there is always that bit of light at the top of that climb.
