Before the court was Ronan Lynch (38), 105 St Bridget’s Place who was charged with not having insurance on January 2nd 2016 at Carrowgubbadagh and with doing 129kph in a 100kph zone. He was also caught driving while banned on October 16 th 2017. On July 16 2016 he had been banned for 20 years and on November 14 th 2014 for 30 years.

Asked why he had a car at all by Judge Kevin Kilrane, the defendant said he was doing it up to sell. There was no car at the house now. Lynch said he had spent time in prison before and had engaged with his GP and Charter House.

“Unfortunately, this man must go to prison,” the Judge told Ms Maura Spellman, solicitor (defending). The Judge imposed a ten month jail term and an €80 fine on the speeding charge.
