Hazelwood Triathlon is on July 7th
On July 7th the third successive Olympic distance triathlon hosted by Sligo Triathlon Club is taking place with athletes from Sligo and across Ireland and further afield expected to take part.
This year’s in the beautiful surrounds of the world famous Lough Gill.
This Triathlon Ireland sanctioned race will comprise a 1500m swim in Lough Gill at the calm Half Moon Bay cove, followed by a 40km bike through the picturesque countryside through Leitrim on route around the lake and then back towards Sligo.
The 10km run is a looped route on forest trail with some welcome shade under the forest canopy.
Many of the top triathletes from Sligo Traithlon Club and neighbouring clubs including MSC, Liquid motion, Loughkey, Longford and Galway triathlon clubs as well as competitors from clubs all over Ireland will be out in force to compete in this great event.
There is also a technical bike course to challenge all on this very beautiful route.
The race committee said entries are filling up fast and all interested in competing are urged to get their entry in before it’s too late.

Event schedule Friday 6th July Hazelwood Registration from 6-8pm.
Saturday 7th July Hazelwood Registration from 9-10am.
Marshal sign on & briefing at 11am with competitor briefing at 11:30am.
Wave 1 start at 12pm and Wave 2 start at 12:10pm.
Post-race refreshments are available for all triathletes with wrist band supplied .
Attendance at the pre-race briefing is compulsory for all participants.
The prize giving presentation is at 4:30pm.
Prizes will be awarded for all age categories with cash prizes for top three male and female finishers.
Chip timing will be in use from Core Timing. Please return chips after race.
