Aoife has also played basketball for Ireland and was massively successful in this sport too. She said she was delighted to be named Player of the Year after the event. Aoife featured for Ireland women’s team in the Six Nations campaign earlier this year. Aoife said: “Incredible honoured to have received the Player of the Year award. To say it was unexpected is an understatement. I count myself so lucky to play alongside so many strong and talent women, that this award really could have gone to any number of them! I’m so proud to play for Railway Union RFC and it’s the people in the club that have made it possible for me progress through the grades and get capped for both Leinster and Ireland this year. Can’t wait to get back on the pitch with the girls and working towards finally winning the AIL!”
