Real Tubber win unique treble
REAL Tubber girls are celebrating again after completing a unique treble for the club.
They contested the Girls League Final with Arrow Harps on Thursday evening in Riverstown Park.
Arrow Harps were attempting to win back to back titles having beaten the same opposition in this final last year.
This was a highly entertaining match played in near perfect conditions.
Both teams defended superbly and made it difficult for the attack minded players to get a foot hold in the game.
Both keepers were outstanding also, not allowing any breach of their lines, and it looked from the start that they would be difficult to beat. And so it proved, having gone through normal time and extra time, the teams remained scoreless.
Both teams had chances to win it, but the defences stood firm.
Cara King, the Real Tubber captain and central defender who is also the Sligo Leitrim U12 captain for the Gaynor Cup, had an outstanding game, backed up well by Kate McCarthy.
Real Tubber seemed to be a greater threat in the second half with the introduc- tion of Shannon Davey as both the teams tired, but this went to penalties.
Real Tubber went on to win the lottery shoot out 3-2 and claimed the title for 2018.
Both teams can be very proud of the season they had.
Real Tubber have now added another cup to their cabinet, securing a treble for their girl’s teams, having already won the U14 title and The Holland Cup.
Ciara Kerrigan, Hannah Hargadon, Kate McCarthy and Cara King have been on all three teams this season claiming a unique treble for 2018.
