Again, the two sides could not be separated, but Carbury came close when Gary Finan got in behind Eric Browne, but Power did well to comfortabl­y gather his shot.

Barry Moran sent his effort well over the bar, before extra-time was up and penalties were next.

In what was an excellent penalty shoot-out, the sides were forced into sudden death.

Jason Molloy scored Mervue’s first, with Gareth Kelly netting Carbury’s first.

Stephen Larkin made it 2-1, with Chris Kelly netting his penalty to make it 2-2.

Eoin Concannon scored Mervue’s third, with Aaron Murren making it 3-3.

Simon Walsh made it 4-3, before Ross McLoughlin brought the sides level again to make it 4-4.

Mervue went 5-4 up thanks to Barry Moran, with Barry O’Mahony making it 5-5.

Aaron Finnerty made it 6-5 before Daniel Smith made it six apiece.

Paul Healy scored Mervue’s seventh penalty, before substitute goalkeeper Peter Healy saved from Gary Finan’s penalty to win the game for his club.
