PRIZE GIVING DAY

May 18 was Prize Giving Day in the Jesus and Mary Secondary School Enniscrone. The most converted prize is of course – the award of student of the Year which is given to a Leaving Cert student. Congratula­tions to this year’s winner Saiorse McGowan, daughter of Ronan and Joanne McGowan Easkey, Co Sligo.

RETIREMENT OF GARDA

We sympathise with Sister Eileen Jones RJM Church Road, Enniscrone on the death of her brother retired Bishop Christy Jones, who died on Saturday, May 19, Bishop Jones was a native of Roscommon.

ENNISCRONE-KILGLASS GAA

Our intermedia­te team played out a 0-11 apiece draw with neighbours Castleconn­or at Quigabar last Saturday evening in round six of the Division Two league. In blustery conditions, the visitors led 0-9 to 0-3 at halftime but an improved second half showing backed by the wind helped our lads retrieve the situation, though some very wasteful shooting did not help our cause. Best wishes and a speedy recovery to Keith Mullaney, who sustained a foot injury in the first half.

The Enniscrone-Kilglass/Easkey minors received a walkover from Owenmore Gaels in the league last Friday evening.

The Enniscrone-Kilglass/Easkey under-16 team is away to Coolera/Strandhill on Monday evening at 7 p.m., and two days later on Wednesday host Castleconn­or on at 7 p.m. in Quigabar.

Our under-14s return to league action on Thursday evening with a home fixture against Curry. Our under-12s had a 0-34 to 0-5 win over St Farnan’s last Tuesday evening. They play Curry in their final league game on May 29 Please note that under-six training takes place this week on Thursday evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Quigbar.

BEREAVEMEN­T SUPPORT

A women’s Bereavemen­t Support Group will be held in the West Sligo Family Resource Centre on June 6 from7 p.m. to 8 p.m. This is a sensitive and confidenti­al group.’ There are three needs of the griever: To find the words for the loss, to say the words aloud and to know that the words have been heard’ Victoria Alexander.

WALKING CLUB

The walk on Saturday, June 2, is Sheefreys. The level is hard, the terrain is open mountain and the length is five to six hours.

WESTSIDE MACRA

Tag rugby takes place on Thursday from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the astroturf Pitch Waterpoint. All welcome for a fun evening. Contact James at 086 3691968.

FUNDRAISER

The Skreen-Dromard Community Centre Fuel Raffle tickets are now on sale in local shops and at the community centre. The cost is €5 per ticket or three tickets for €10.

FIRST COMMUNICAN­TS

Congratula­tions to the 12 children from Ballinlig and High Park National Schools, who recently made their First Holy Communion in St Adamnan’s Church, Skreen at 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday, May 20.

The children were Jenny Horan, Daithi Carney, Kaela Morrison-Hogan, Noah Hogan, Josephine Kilgallen, Diarmaid Clarke, Euan Finnigan, Corey McLoughlin, Enda Kilcullen, Manus McManus, Jaime Boland, Cian McMunn.

BELTRA COUNTRY MARKET

Beltra Country Market on Saturday, June 2, will host an Asian cooking workshop for adults and teens with Chitra. The market runs each Saturday from 10 a.m. to midday in Beltra Hall and grounds.
