GRANTS AWARDED

Sligo County Council as result of Cadra applicatio­ns has been awarded €625 for our Tidy Town work in the Carraroe area and €1,000 for a special landscape project which is currently in progress.

ST JOHN’S GAA CLUB

COMMUNITY CENTRE

If you wish to book the community centre, please contact the parish office at 071 9162136. Most morning, afternoons and some evening are available. Please be conscious of other groups using the centre and stick to your allocated time.

LAKEVIEW ICA GUILD

The next meeting of the guild will be held in Carraroe Community Centre on Tuesday, June 5, at 8 p.m. The annual end of year party will follow the meeting. SENIORS ALARM SCHEME

Cadra remind all eligible residents to avail of the scheme as it a great comfort and support to people. Anyone over 65 is eligible. Anyone that already has the alarm is advised to wear the pendent at all times including in bed. PTAA MASS

The PTAA annual Mass takes place at the Holy Well this evening at 8 p.m. The intentions are Peace, Temperance and success in exams.

CIGARETTE ENDS

Cadra is appealing to people not to dump cigarette end from cars on to our roads. This activity leaves a piece of white filter paper on our roads causing unpleasant litter. Remember ‘Be Green Keep Carraroe Clean’ is our campaign slogan. Your assistance and cooperatio­n will be appreciate­d.

DANCING

Dance class followed by live band each Wednesday night in Carraroe Community Centre Sligo from 8.30 p.m. to late. Learn to jive, waltz, Quick Step and more. Beginners and Improvers welcome. DOG FOULING

People walking their dogs on Carraroe roads are requested to remove fouling and not to dump into hedges as the plastic bags do not disintegra­te and have to be removed by litter pickers – please bring home and bin. There is an on the spot fine of €150 for such offences. Pooper – scoopers are available free from Sligo County Council.

Please note the defibrilla­tors are located at Community Centre and Community Field Clubhouse. Code is posted beside the machine. Please be aware CCTV is in operation.

Bingo is played every Monday at 9 p.m. in the Blue Devon. All lines €30 except games 5 and 10 which are €50. All houses €100 and last game €200. Your support is much appreciate­d.

LADIES FITNESS

The last six-week block before the summer starts this Thursday at 8.30 p.m. in Drumkeerin ball alley with James from Macs Active. All ages and fitness levels catered for. Come along and give it a go.

THE death took place on May 14 of John Callaghan, retired Garda Detective, Clones, Co. Monaghan. He was a native of Drumhilloc­k, Gurteen. Sympathy to his sons, daughters, grandchild­ren, extended family and friends. May he rest in peace.

The annual Mass in Killaraght New Cemetery will be on Sunday, June 3, at 9.30 a.m. The annual Mass in Templerona­n Cemetery will be on Sunday, August 5, at 1 p.m. and the annual Mass in Killaraght Old Cemetery will be on August 12 at 1 p.m.

Bingo is held every Friday night in Gurteen Hall at 8.30 p.m. The jackpot is now €2,200 on 46 calls – lotto raffle – and good prizemoney – all proceeds are shared between Eastern Harps GAA Club and the hall committee for the upkeep of the hall.

CO. FLEADH CHEOIL

The Sligo County Fleadh Cheoil will be held in Sligo Town on the bank holiday weekend with the competitio­ns on Saturday, June 1, and Sunday, June 2, There will also be street entertainm­ent and lots of pub sessions throughout the town. The Fleadh is hosted by the Fred Finn Branch of CCE and the Sligo Town Branch CCE.
