Community want to lease station
A community group in Dromahair want to use the disused local Garda Station.
Local area Fine Gael activist said the group wish to lease the building but such deals have been put on hold.
“I have made representations to the Office of Public Works and the Department of Justice and they have advised me that all handover of Garda Stations to community groups “are on hold following a request from An Garda Siochana as another review is due to take place.”
Mr Walsh said: “I very much welcome this review and await its findings. However, I hope it is concluded in a timely manner so that community groups can progress to make submissions for such closed stations as was intended in 2013 when the former Minister for the OPW, Brian Hayes made Dromahair Garda Station available for a community project.”
