MEN’S BASKETBALL

Boyle basketball club are trying to establish if there is any interest in establishi­ng a men’s team in Boyle for next season. Presently there are a number of men interested in a team but more are required.

PLEASURE GROUNDS LIGHTS

Five new solar powered light are to be installed in the Pleasure Grounds in Boyle in the next number of weeks. The lights have zero running or electrical costs.

The project was identified and led by Boyle Town Team, who are working in associatio­n with Roscommon County Council towards installati­on.

Funding was obtained by the team by way of a grant from the RAPID fund. This was compliment­ed by additional funds from a charity car wash undertaken by Boyle Fire Service.

It is hoped the lights, which will be installed in key areas of the grounds, will add to the security of the area. The Pleasure Grounds is a key part of the Boyle 2040 plan. The Plan is currently being finalised and further details of this and a number of other exciting Town Team projects will be announced in the coming weeks.’.

SOCIAL DANCE CLASSES

CURLEW WALKERS CLUB

The next meeting of the Curlew Walkers will be on Saturday/ Sunday, June 9/10 meeting on the Crescent, Boyle at 9 a.m. This will be a Clonbur walk and is a climb, grade B Leader for the day will be Eugene Griffin 086 2560400.

RECYCLING WORKSHOP

Crossna Community Co-op is hosting a free workshop on recycling on Tuesday, June 12, at 7.30 p.m. in the community centre, Cleen hall. The workshop will be given by ‘VOICE’, the recycling ambassador programme, its aim is to improve recycling rates and to reduce levels of contaminat­ion in household recycling bins.

LOUGH KEY AQUATHON

The Lough Key Aquathon will take place this year on Wednesday, June 13, will consist of 750m swim and a 5k run. Commencing at 7.30 p.m. in Lough Key Forest Park, the Aquathon is part of the Midlands Series. More informatio­n on closer to the event.

CANCER FUNDRAISER

A fundraisin­g night for the Irish Cancer Society will take place in the Patrick’s Well on June 22 and the Moylurg on July 6 the event is in aid of Boyle man Paul Condon’s sponsored parachute jump which will take place on Sunday, July 22, Limerick by birth but Boyle by nature, Paul has been 25 years in his adopted town and has raised over €25,000 to date for the Irish Cancer Society through a number of fundraisin­g ventures.

Open Week at Boyle Golf Club runs this year from Monday, July 2, to Friday, July 6.

BAF’18

Tickets are now on sale for two great performanc­es during Boyle Arts Festival. The Rob Strong and Don Baker Band will play in Daly’s Storehouse on July 21 On Monday, July 23, Luka Bloom will make a very special intimate appearance, in the Church of Ireland.

COURTYARD MARKET

The Market takes place every Saturday in the grounds of King House, Boyle from 10 a.m. till 2 p.m. If you would like to enjoy the best locally grown fresh and organic produce, then a trip to the Courtyard Market should be on your agenda. COMMUNITY PARK LOTTO

The Cloonacool Community Park lotto draw for May took place in Brennan’s on Saturday night. There was no winner of the €1,800 jackpot. The numbers drawn were 8, 13, 21 and 25 there were three match-three winners. €200 was shared between Niall McCarrick, Evander Brennan and Joe McIntyre. Next month’s jackpot will be €1,900 many thanks for your continued and generous support.

ADVENTURE CAMP

Ox Mountain Adventure Camp are running their fun summer camps again this year on the following dates: July 17 to July 20 and 24 – July 27. CEMETERY MASSES

The annual Mass in Templerona­n Cemetery will be on Sunday, August 5, at 1 p.m. and the annual Mass in Killaraght Old Cemetery will be on August 12 at 1 p.m.

BINGO

Bingo is held every Friday night in Gurteen Hall at 8.30 p.m. The jackpot is now €2,400 on 47 calls – lotto raffle €500- and good prizemoney – all proceeds are shared between Eastern Harps GAA Club and the hall committee for the upkeep of the hall.

GURTEEN TIDY TOWNS

Huge credit is due to Gurteen Tidy Towns members for all the work that has been done in the village notably in the past week. The Tidy Towns adjudicato­rs will be visiting the area from the beginning of June onwards so the committee would appreciate any help in completing some of the projects for this year. Well done to all concerned.
