Man said threat to his life in east of country
A 37-year-old man before the court for entering a room in the Glasshouse Hotel with the intent to commit theft told Judge Kevin Kilrane that his life was in danger if he went back to the east of Ireland. Seamus Casey, no fixed abode Sligo, said there was a threat on his life and asked if he could reside at Maryville Hostel in Sligo. The Judge said that he was released on bail from the court the previous week and that evening was attempting to rob a hotel room. Defending solicitor Mr Mark Mullaney said there has been a change in his client during the week. The defendant told the judge he had problems with alcohol and that he was thinking irrationally on the day in question. Mr Mullaney asked Casey if he would have any difficulties signing on and he said he wouldn’t.
Judge Kilrane said he was going to take a chance on him and adjourned the matter, releasing him on bail on the condition that he lives in Maryville hostel.
