Two remanded on PO robbery
TWO men in their late teens have been remanded on bail after being charged in relation to a robbery at Maugheraboy Post Office last week.
The men appeared before a sitting of Manorhamilton Court last Wednesday.
Sean Lynch, 57 Knocknaganny Park, Sligo and Jack Gorevan, 5 Brook Grove, Farmhill, Strandhill Road, faced a single count of robbery of €395 on June 12 th last at the post office.
Evidence of arrest, charge and caution was outlined by Garda Daniel Grimes and Garda Kevin Costello.
There was no objection to bail by Gardaí.
Judge Kevin Kilrane remanded both men to appear at Sligo District Court on July 19 th next.
They were represented by Mr Gerard McGovern, solicitor.
As part of the men’s bail conditions, the defendants were ordered to stay away from Maugheraboy Post Office; not interfere with any witnesses, that they both surrender their passports and undertake not to apply for any new travel documents.
Both defendants were also ordered to provide phone numbers to gardai and to ensure these phones were charged at all times.
A curfew was also been imposed between 10pm and 8am.
The incident at the post office occurred at around 2.30pm when two men entered carrying knives.
Gardaí were alerted and were quickly on the scene, arresting two men nearby and recovering a sum of money which was taken.
