Cartron repairs remain in the pipeline

-

ROAD surface conditions in the Cartron Estate in Sligo Town will be assessed in the coming months, but a full survey of the area’s footpaths will not take place until a purpose built application is launched.

Fianna Fail Councillor Rosaleen O’Grady said residents in the area were anxious to find out whether surface conditions both on the footpath and on the road would be improved shortly.

Replying to Cllr O’Grady’s motion, Director of Services Tom Kilfeather, on behalf of Senior Engineer Tom Brennan, said that engineers at Sligo County Council were “awaiting the roll-out of the proposed IPB/RMO footpath app, which assists in determining the condition of surfaces”.

He said footpath repairs can for now, only be carried out where necessitated from a health and safety perspective.

He did confirm that road surface conditions will be assessed over the coming months.

He noted that repairs and upgrades will be considered in the context of the preparation of the council’s three-year multi-annual road works programme.
