Healy calls for more disabled parking spots in Sligo Town

-

THE number of disabled parking spaces in Sligo Town could be set to increase.

Sligo County Council are currently preparing to review the car parking byelaws in the town and have invited interested parties to make their submissions to the council.

Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy, in his motion to June’s meeting of the council, says the council should take advantage of such a review by increasing the number of disabled car parking spaces in the town .

“People might be surprised to know there are over 1,800 disabled parking permit holders in Sligo. I took part in the Wheelchair Challenge in Sligo and it opened my eyes to see what disabled members of our community have to endure on a daily basis.

“I would encourage anyone, even if you’re not affected by this to make a submission as it would strengthen the case for more disabled parking spots.”
