The Sligo Champion

U16 Amateur Open at Castle Dargan

-

CASTLE Dargan Golf Club hosts The Irish Boys Under 16 Amateur Open from Wednesday to Friday.

A popular event with parents and competitors alike, this recent addition to the championship roster for under 16s showcases the best underage golfing talent available. Replacing the Irish Under-15 Boys Amateur Open Championship in 2015, when Andrew Mulhall of Waterford Castle won the title at The Heath, the event has gone from strength to strength in attracting the best players at home and some considerable overseas talent. The Championship was subsequently won by John Brady (Rosslare) and Adam Smith (Mullingar) in 2016 and 2017 respectively – with all three past winners having subsequently gone on to represent Ireland at Boys level.
