Testimonial for legend Cretaro
SLIGO Rovers are to honour one of their greatest servants as they host a testimonial for the legendary Raffaele Cretaro on Saturday, July 28th. The opposition will be a Raffaele Cretaro XI made up of some of the best players that have played alongside the Tubbercurry native over the years.
Confirmed to take part so far are Ciaran Kelly, Richard Brush, Jason McGuinness, Romauld Boco, Danny Ventre, Joseph Ndo and Anthony Elding with more names to be announced in the next few weeks.
The ‘Tubbercurry Tornado’ is second on the club’s all-time appearance list and is closing in on Tony Fagan’s all-time record of league appearances.
He is also the second highest goalscorer in the club’s history and one of its most decorated players.
The veteran has won the First Division (2005), the FAI Cup twice (2011 &2013), the Premier Division (2012) and the Setanta Sports Cup (2014) during his two stints at the club. Tickets are priced at €10 for adults and €5 for students/oap/ children. Further details on the game and when and where tickets will be on sale will be announced in due course.
Kick-off at the Showgrounds is 6pm.
