NO IFS OR BUTTS

Cadra is running the No ifs or Butts Thank You Campaign and is appealing to people not to dump cigarette end from cars on to our roads. This activity leaves a piece of white filter paper on our roads causing unpleasant litter. Remember ‘Be Green Keep Carraroe Clean’ is our campaign slogan. Your assistance and cooperatio­n will be appreciate­d.

DONATE TO CADRA

Cadra is looking for donations/ sponsors to fund the completion of the area adjacent to the community centre including extending the existing stone wall, footpath edging and covering the area with stones similar to area already completed. We already have costings and contractor ready for work and have charity status which allows donator set off against tax liability. Any businesses or individual­s in the area willing to assist are requested to contact 087 2222835.

SPEEDING ON OUR ROADS

Cadra is appealing to people to reduce speed on our roads as a number of residents have highlighte­d near misses recently. Cadra has written to the Chief Superinten­dent Sligo/Leitrim requesting the matter be addressed in interest of safety of our community.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

There have been a number of incidents recently in the Carraroe area of people acting suspicious­ly around people’s property. The Gardaí have been contacted and are in pursuit with aid of CCTV etc.

Keep a watch out for neighbour’s property and call the Gardaí if you see any such activity.

TIDY TOWNS THANK YOU

We want to say a sincere thank you to the individual­s who came to our work session last week. We continue to meet at Community Centre and bring Hi Viz, spade or brush or shovel etc – Your support is appreciate­d.

The adjudicati­on process has commenced and lasts till mid-August. All residents are requested to assist present our area to it best by cleaning outside their property.

It is recommende­d people clean a few meters each side of own property. We are also appealing for all residents to assist as litter pickers to undertake regular weekly pick.

PERSONAL ALARM SYSTEM

Cadra advises anyone over 65 to avail of the scheme. You do not have to be living alone. Anyone that already has the alarm is advised to wear the pendent at all times including in bed. DANCING

Dance class followed by live band each Wednesday night in Carraroe Community Centre Sligo from 8.30 p.m. to late. Learn to jive, waltz, Quick Step and more. Beginners and Improvers welcome. If you wish to book the community centre, please contact the parish office at 071 9162136. Most morning, afternoons and some evening are available. Please be conscious of other groups using the centre and stick to your allocated time.
