PHOENIX PLAYERS

The AGM of the Phoenix Players was held in St Brigid’s Hall on Thursday, June 7. The following officers were elected for the coming season.

Chair, Eamonn Gallagher; Vice-chairman, Catriona Coleman; secretary, Mary Mannion; treasurer, Mark Dunne; PRO, Tom Walsh.

In his annual chairman’s report Eamonn Gallagher thanked the director, cast and crew for their trojan work in presenting this season’s production of Buried Child. In particular he congratula­ted Peter Davey, Pat Feely, Frank Brennan, Claire McLoughlin, Peter Molloy, Fionn Feely, Rueben Cummins and Caoimhe Gallagher, all of whom won individual awards on the Festival Circuit.

Plans for next season were discussed at length. It is hoped to stage a three-act comedy for Christmas and a musical the Sound of music in MarchApril 2019.

The recent very successful GAA OSKARS evening threw up a myriad of talent from round the town, a fact that hasn’t gone unnoticed by talent scouts within the Phoenix.

High ranking officials from both Tubbercurr­y GAA and the Phoenix Players are currently in back room discussion­s with a view to negotiatin­g as many star player transfers as possible.

ADVENTURE CAMP

Ox Mountain Adventure Camp are running their fun summer camps again this year from July 17 to July 20 and 24 – July 27 at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Cost of €60 per child. Aged eight years approx. CARD GAME

25 Card game single hand in St Brigid’s Hall, Tubbercurr­y every Sunday night at 8.30 p.m. The card games will go right through the summer.

Achonry Mullinabre­ena Community Group are looking for photos relating to the area, from as far back as possible up to the present day: football, church, farming, school, creamery, social events, Community Games, family etc. We are asking people to have a look, everything will be returned after the event. IRISH SUMMER SCHOOL
