ROSSES POINT COASTAL WAY WALKING ROUTE IS OFFICIALLY OPENED
The new Rosses Point Coastal Way walking route was officially launched in the seaside village last Thursday.
The group set up to spearhead the development of the new walk - Rosses Point Coast Way Group - were delighted to have Brendan Johnston of Rosses Point Tidy Towns cut the ribbon on the route on the summer solstice, 21st June.
Glorious mid summer sunshine saw numbers attending the launch walk swell as it progressed along the route from the Trail Head at the First Beach car park up to the nearby Bowmore headland.
The group then travelled over to the other headland at Dead Man’s Point, onward along the scenic path and from there to the end of the promenade.
Co-ordinators Martina Butler, Sean Callagy and Dearbhla Gill thanked all of those who participated including past pupils from the local national school, Realt na Mara who had been involved in the design of the coastal way.
The new walk features nine interpretative panels highlighting the area’s geology, archaeology, biodiversity and maritime history.
