Onnell admits loss disappoint­ing

He praised teammate Gerard O’Kelly-Lynch for playing both the hurling final and the Armagh game on the same day. Fair play to him the guy has some engine on him and you know he’s delighted to come down as well, I don’t think he even had a shower after the first game. Fair play to him and he did a good job when he came in today.” The Castleconn­or man said it was a big year for him as captain of Sligo. “It was an absolute honour, I suppose disappoint­ing in the way it finished up but definitely a personal honour and was delighted to have it. I think with the young players coming through this year is a good sign that we are building, there’s a good mix there of youth and experience and maybe we can blood a few more and in the coming years we can start bringing Sligo football forward again,” Kevin added.
