ST FARNAN’S

PRIDE of place this week must go to James Weir who became the first St. Farnan’s player to win a Lory Meagher Cup medal. James was part of Sligo senior hurling team who defeated Lancashire in the final in Croke Park on Saturday last. James was corner back on the team and had the onerous task of marking Lancashire’s best player Ronan Crowley, a job which he stuck to throughout the game. Congratulations to James and also to Joe Mc Hugh of Easkey. Unfortunately there was no joy for our senior county football players against Armagh or for the under 17’s against Mayo. Our junior team were defeated by a very strong St. Molaise Gaels team on Friday last in Templeboy on a score of 1-14 to 0-9. The intermediate team play St. John’s on Sunday next at 2pm in Stenson Park. On Tuesday the under 12 team play Tourlestrane at 7pm in St. Farnan’s Park. On Wednesday the under16 St. Far- nan’s/ St. Pat’s play Shamrock Gaels at 7pm also in Templeboy. WELL done to John Mulvihill, online winner of €210 in the 50/50 draw. The next draw is on Sunday, July 1. Please support.

CLOONACOOL

HARD luck to the Sligo men’s team and the ladies Intermediate squad who went down to defeat to Armagh and Roscommon respectively last weekend. Our club was represented on the ladies team by promising young player Siobhan Brennan. Our club’s senior men have two rounds of the league left to play, with both away games to Tourlestrane and Ballymote in the coming weeks after a disappointing league campaign to date. As they now prepare for the championship with these two league games, we welcome back all those players doing exams and out injured in recent times, and look forward to improved performances in the coming weeks and months ahead. All club fixtures and results are available on the Sligo G.A.A. website on a weekly basis. The Sligo minors went down to a strong Mayo team away on Saturday last. We are represented on this panel by Sean Carnahan, Rian Moylan, Griffin Gallagher and Jack Flatley. Sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of the late Lynne Craven of Corsallagh, who went to her eternal reward last week. May she rest in peace.

ENNISCRONE/KILGLASS

OUR intermediate team beat Castleconnor 2-16 to 2-14 in the final round of the Benson Cup last Sunday afternoon at Corballa. They finish the campaign with three wins and a draw from four games but miss out on a place in the final on score difference. Next Sunday, the lads return to league action with a home fixture against Bunninadden at 2pm in Quigabar. Please support if possible. Well done to all club players on completing the state examinations last week. Our U-14s are currently preparing for their shield quarter-final against Easkey on July 5th. Our U-12s put in a determined display to defeat St Patrick’s last Tuesday at Quigabar, 0-10 to 0-5. In awful weather conditions, both teams served up and interesting contest. Well done lads.
