Sligo AC at Connacht track & field event

A large group of Sligo AC athletes, ranging from U14s to Masters, competed in the Connacht Outdoor Track and Field Championsh­ips in Claremorri­s. The Walkers all had a successful day with Ruth Monaghan (U16 Walk), Ryan Roberts (U18 Walk) and Eva Delahunt (U18 Walk) all tasting victory. Speedster brother and sister Aaron and Lauren Cadden each had double wins. Aaron won his Senior 100m and 200m races and, not to be outdone, younger sister Lauren won her U19 100m and 200m. Another winning brother /sister act came from the Morgans, Michael and Ailbhe. Michael came home with a double win with 1st in both the U17 1500m and 3000m.

Meanwhile Ailbhe won her U18 800m and was 2nd in her 1500m. Other Sligo AC successes came from Finlay Daly who was first home in the Senior 1500m and, likewise, Matthew McMeekin was first over the finish line in the Senior 3000m. James Callaghan won the M35 800m and was 3rd M35 1500m while Kevin McGlone won the M50 800m. Great running also by Leo Doherty with his 3rd in the U19 400m and 2nd in the 800m. Well done also to Shane McGlone who was 8th in the 100m and Luke Walsh who finished 6th in the U19 800m.
