The Sligo Champion

Climb every mountain

-

SLIGO Cancer campaigner Peter Milne has seen another hugely successful charity climb of Benbulben, raising almost ¤4,000 for Sligo Cancer Support Centre.

“More and more we appreciate just the joy of the event,” Peter told The Sligo Champion.

The 4 th annual climb was organised by Peter and coordinated by Sligo Mountaineering Club.

The weather played its part and the sun shone on over 200 hikers young and old (despite the forecast) as they reached the top of Sligo’s iconic mountain.

They were back down around 4pm for tea at Waters Farm followed by music in Collins Bar Rathcormac, from about 8.30pm.

“There wasn’t one drop of rain at the top. People had a fantastic day and tea at Water’s house,” said Peter. “It’s a privilege to be part of this community,” he said. Rathcormac NS Parents Association provided the food also.
