First Class student has drug charges struck out

-

A Sligo IT student caught dealing drugs in 2016 has “completely turned his life around” and is now being held up by the college as an example to other students.

Robert Fallon, of Heather View, Sligo was originally charged with possession of drugs for sale or supply and the unlawful possession of drugs at Sligo Garda Station on 10 th January 2016.

Defence solicitor Mr Gerard McGovern told Judge Kilrane that Fallon had since earned a First Class Honours degree and had “really changed his life from the day he appeared before you.”

Judge Kilrane told Fallon that if convicted “it would be nailed” to his CV for the rest of his life.

He said for that reason he was giving Fallon a chance and was “very impressed” with him.

The court heard the IT wants Fallon to stay on and “show other students what can be achieved” and he also did extensive volunteer work.

Judge Kilrane struck out all charges against Fallon.
