COLLOONEY and Ballisodar­e are two busy towns situated on the outskirts of Sligo town. Collooney is located just off the N4 and N17, and is the meeting point of the two roads. Ballisodar­e is also situated along the Owenmore Rivers, about seven kilometres South of Sligo town.

The photogenic Ox Mountains lie at the back of the town. Ballisodar­e Bay is just on the outskirts of the town, and is a huge attraction for those with an interest in fishing, particular­ly salmon fishing. These two areas are undergoing constant growth, with numerous new businesses cropping up in recent years.
