CHOIR’S PAPAL INVITE
The North Leitrim based choir of Ages have been invited to sing for Pope Francis when he officiates at the festival of Families Mass in Croke Park on Saturday, August 25.
Choir members were informed of the Papal Mass invitation when they turned up for Thursday afternoon’s practice session in Rossinver’s Ballagh Centre by a Tyrone Productions TV Company representative.
Last summer Tyrone Productions were involved with the choir of Ages in the making of a number of RTÉ television programmes. RTÉ Concert Orchestra Conductor, David Brophy took the baton for the choir of Ages television performances.
Brophy also was the conductor for the choir of Ages performances at the 2017 Stoneywood’s Festival in Kiltyclogher, as well as two other shows in the Ballroom of Romance Glenfarne and the RDS Dublin.
For the Glenfarne and Dublin shows, as well as for television programmes, the North Leitrim Choir of Ages was joined by a similar Dublin Choir from the Walksinstown and Crumlin areas.
The choir of Ages performed at Saturday night’s Stoneywood’s Festival in Kiltyclogher Community Centre.
