Oxfield footpath would cost up to €40,000

THE construction of a footpath from the Oxfield Road to the nearby community centre in Carney would cost bet ween € 35k and € 40k, a meeting of Sligo Municipal Authorit y was told on Monday.

Senior Engineer Tom Brennan told Councillor Seamus Kilgannon that this cost didn’t include any possible l and acquisition .

He said there was al so no dedicated funding source available to carr y out such work at present.

Cllr Kilgannon said many people used the walk on a regular basis and a footpath was necessar y while Cllr Hubert Keaney described the road as treacherous.

A previous fund for footpath construction was no longer available, the meeting was told.
