Going global at Beltra market!

- By JENNY MCCUDDEN

THERE was an international flavour to the Beltra Country market last Saturday as people from all over the globe visited the popular attraction to share some cultural experiences.

From Russian Folk music to Spanish Tapas there was something for everyone at the International Morning.

It’s a new departure for the Market and organisers say it was a great success. A large crowd gathered to sample the various stalls, foods and entertainment on offer at the free event which ran all morning.

There was a drumming session with Ruach Rhythms. Some spectators even got to try out the bongo drums during demonstrations.

Those feeling peckish were spoilt for choice with a delicious display of World food from Global Kitchen who were cooking up a storm at their stall on the day. French crepes and Spanish tapas was also on offer.

Russian Folk Group Matreshki entertained the crowds and there was also Irish music to enjoy.

Organisers concluded: “It was a wonderful multicultural morning.

“Thanks to all our wonderful performers, cooks, visitors, helpers and volunteers for our international day.

We are delighted to announce that we raised €400 for Medecins sand Frontieres from the event.”
