Board to decide on Rosses Point plan for cottage
AN Bord Pleanala will issue its decision in September on whether planning will be granted for the renovation and extension of a cottage in the village of Rosses Point.
Objections to the granting of planning permission by Sligo County Council to Brenda Boyle of Downings, County Donegal have been lodged by the residents of two nearby housing estates, Radhach Na Rí and Ceol Na Mara.
Ms Boyle has sought the demolition of an existing two storey return and existing single storey return with renovation and extension of the existing cottage at Old Village Road.
On behalf of residents in the two estates, D.A. Harte and Associates, surveyors, engineering and planning consultants of Rosses Point, raise concerns about the junction of Radhach na Rí and Old Village Road.
They say they are in favour of the development of the site as it is an eyesore but say if a proposed porch is erected it would reduce the sight distance from Radhach na Rí to approximately 7.3m which “would be a recipe for disaster.”
It is also submitted that a front boundary wall would restrict the effective width of the road by 1.43m.
It is also stated that the proposed side elevation was not in keeping with the single storey dwellings on either side of the property and that the area allocated for parking at the rear of the house was highly unlikely to facilitate the turning of the average car when utilities are located there such as bins, oil tanker or bunker.
