NA LEISURE AND LANNON YEARS IN BALLISODARE TOWN CENTRE
WHAT was once a green field site in Ballisodare is now a thriving family business. Whiteside’s SuperValu, Ballisodare, has been growing from strength to strength since it’s inception 10 years ago. Cecil and Patricia Whiteside, proprietors, who also have a Centra shop in Collooney, which they have owned for 30 years, bought the SuperValu shop in 2008 as part of a development been constructed at the time by Avena Developments which also included a Leisure Centre and Chemist and more recently a Post Office, alongside housing and apartment blocks.
Cecil has been serving the Communities of Ballisodare, Collooney and surrounding areas for many years and he and his staff pride themselves in the level of attention and service they give to all their customers.
“We opened the store just right at the peak of the celtic tiger and within a year of opening the property crash happened. We struggled at first to get it up and running but with the help of SuperValu, we got going in a 2 year window and we have never looked back since. We have revamped the store on a couple of occasions. Some of the added facilities include our spacious Café, which opened in 2013 , and more recently our In-house Bakery. We have carried out a full revamp on our Fresh Food Isle. We have updated our online shopping and the result of this has been an increase of 30% and upwards on the number of customers using the online system”.
On Saturday 21st July, there is an Appreciation Day in the SuperValu Store for all customers. Cecil is very adamant that without the support of the local communities, his business would not be the success it is today.
“I want to say a special thank you to all my customers everywhere, as without their support, I could not have continued for the past 10 years. A huge thank you also to the Management and Staff who have shown true loyalty and support to myself and Patricia right up to the present day. I want everyone to come along on Saturday 21st July and celebrate what has been a resounding successful 10 years in business in Ballisodare and looking forward to another super 10 years.
