First ever U16 title for Molaise boys

-

ST Molaise Gaels U16 Boys won the club’s first ever U16 Boys A League title as the North Sligo side defeated an overwhelmed St Mary’s at Scarden on Tuesday.

Gaels only defeat in the League competition this season came against the same opposition last month but from the first minutes of the encounter and a brilliant Jack Davitt goal it was clear that the Gaels squad were intent on reversing that result.

Playing with the benefit of a fresh breeze in the first half Gaels produced an outstanding thirty minutes of exceptional teamwork and brilliant point scoring.

Shane Towey, Michael Langan and Jack Davitt all contributed handsomely to the scoreboard.

Gaels led by 2-10 to 0-02 at the interval.

St Mary’s would have hoped to make a strong start to the second half but Gaels excellent defence superbly marshalled by Joe Keaney at centre half back withstood whatever pressure there was.

The winners were comfortably in control for the remainder of the game.

Substitute Daniel O’Connor scored a brilliant third goal for Gaels in the 53rd minute.

Co Board Development Officer Padraig Clancy presented the Cup to Gaels captain Ryan Gallagher.

This was an exceptional performance from the Gaels squad.

The club congratulated the Lads and the Management Team.

Focus now for St Molaise Gaels turns to the A Championship.
