Sligo ladies begin with a victory over Longford

SLIGO LONGFORD 2-12 0-8

Naughton’s goal game with 6 minutes on the clock which was added to by scores from Walsh (3 frees), Sarah Reynolds (2), Denise McGrath, Bernie Connolly and Lauren Boles as Sligo led by 1-8 to Longford’s 0-5 at the break.

Sligo outscored Longford by 1-4 to 0-3 in the second half with the penalty coming in the 52nd minute which put the game past Longford.

Laura Ann Laffey scored 2 points in the second half for Sligo with Denise McGrath also adding two more.

Elise Codd, Claire Dunne and Shauna Henry all put in brilliant performanc­es for Sligo and they now prepare for their next game.

Sligo will play Laois next and that game is being held in Kinnegad on Sunday, July 29th with a throw-in time of 2pm.
