Sailing championships starting

ONCE again, in July this year the Northwest Offshore Racing Association with the continued support of Malinwaters will host its annual championships.

Mullaghmore Sailing Club, Sligo Yacht Club and Killybegs Sailing Club have teamed up to create this unique and fun sailing event for larger Keelboats and Cruisers.

Now in its sixth year, this event looks set to grow with interest already being expressed from other clubs in the wider region and across the border.

The championship has a unique format, always been run in two venues and rotated between the three sailing clubs.

In 2018 the Championship will begin with Sligo Yacht Club hosting a full weekend of inshore racing 20th to 22nd July.

The NORA fleet will then set off on an offshore race to the second venue Mullaghmore Sailing Club, where the Championship will be concluded with inshore racing taking place from 27th to 29th July.

With a total of eleven inshore races and one offshore, the Malinwaters supported NORA Championship is sure to provide challenging racing on the water and, as always, great social activity on shore.
