Well done to all the local young musicians on their success at the recent Connacht Fleadh in Ballinamore. Sinéad Johnston: First Banjo, first Mandolin, first Duet and third Miscellaneous, age 1215. Aoife Johnston first Concertina and first Duet, age under-12. Ciara Lee second Fiddle and second Fiddle Slow air, age 1215. Well done also to members of the South Sligo Ceili band under-12 including Aoife Johnston and Hannah Lee, under-15 Ceili band members Conor Johnston, Sinéad Johnston, Ciara Lee and Michael Gorman, who all qualify for the all-Ireland Fleadh in Drogheda during August.

ORDINATION
Congratulations to Emmet O’Dowd, Carrowclare, who was ordained in Aberdeen, Scotland last week. Emmet is a son of Séamus and Fiona O’Dowd. A large contingent of family, parishioners and friends traveled for the ocassion. Best wishes to Emmet in his vocation. Mass of thanksgiving was celebrated in Mullinabreena Church on July 13.

LOCAL CD RELEASE
Congtrats to local musician Harry McGowan who released a new CD recently featuring his sons Shane and Fergus among a host of other local talents. The launch was held in the Coleman Centre Gurteen to a packed house. The CD will be available locally to purchase.
PHOTO/HISTORY EXHIBITION
After almost five months of work on the project, over 2,000 photos have now been collected. WALKING/RUNNING TRACK
The newly completed walking/ running track at Nace O’Dowd Park is proving a real success with many folk using it on a daily basis. It is contributing hugely to the health and well-being of our community in a real and sustainable way. The club is currently investigating means to fund the installation of lighting for the track.
