Calls for task force as Basta future seems unclear
FIANNA Fail Councillor Jerry Lundy has called for an employment Task Force to be set up for Tubbercurry following the news that one of the town’s major employers Basta has gone into examinership. He told the Sligo Champion on Monday that employees at the door handle and lock company had been in touch with him over the weekend.
“They are worried about their jobs. They believe a majority of jobs are under threat. This is bad, bad news for Tubbercurry after losing 100 department jobs a few years ago.
“If it were to go we need a task force to look at getting a replacement industry in there. It would be an awful blow,” he said.
