Cannabis smoker feels ‘doing nothing wrong’

A 34-year-old man charged with possession of cannabis felt he was doing nothing wrong, his solicitor, Mr Gerard McGovern told Sligo District Court. Before the court was Adrian Ewing who was charged with possession of cannabis herb at Carraroe on July 11 th 2017. Inspector Paul Kilcoyne said the defendant was stopped and a small amount of cannabis was found in a cigarette box. The defendant had 29 previous conviction­s. “He is a person who is of the mind that he is doing nothing wrong and is smoking it at home,” said Mr McGovern. Judge Kevin Kilrane (left) said he could only implement the law as he found it. He imposed a fine of €300.
