Drove from hospital but had no insurance

A 42-year-old man took a car be- longing to his niece to drive his father home from hospital but he wasn’t covered by insurance.

Stephen Reed of Bundrowey, Bundoran was fined €300 for not having insurance at Shannon Eighter on January 24 th.

Mr Mark Mullaney, solicitor (defending) said the defendant was driving his father home from hospital and who had since passed away.

Mr Mullaney added that the defendant’s licence had expired but he had since got a new learner permit.

He previously held a UK licence but wasn’t able to transfer it across.

“He also attends for kidney dialysis three days a week at Sligo University Hospital and needs his licence,” added Mr Mullaney.
