No ‘official’ Garda vehicles being parked in designated area along Pearse

-

A county councillor has queried how a designated area for the parking of official Garda vehicles is apparently not being used.

Councillor Declan Bree raised the issue at a meeting of Sligo Municipal District.

He said residents who used to park along Pearse Road opposite the Garda Station were wondering why the spaces were not being taken up by Gardaí.

“Residents have concerns as to why the spaces are not being used for official Garda vehicles. I haven’t seen any official vehicles in that space since it was designated,” he said.

He also asked who was going to police the situation.

Chief executive, Ciaran Hayes said the council would take the matter up with the Gardaí.

He said both the council through its traffic wardens and the Gardaí had authority in respect of the parking regulations.
