No Royal titles in the Republic
Madam Editor,
The founding fathers of the Irish State abolished all Royal and Aristocratic titles, because our constitution is that of a Republic and we refer to one another as citizens. When people from other countries come here no matter their background, they should only be referred to as simply Mr, Mrs or Miss. I can’t understand why our politicians and new media refer to foreign aristocrats by their foreign royalist titles here when they have no meaning according to Irish Law. Have some of our citizens forgot their history that our ancestor fought hard and long for to rid us of Royalty? Yours Sincerely, Martin Ford
