Hayes wins Tireragh 4 miler

THE Tireragh 4 miler took place recently and attracted 89 participan­ts. The one loop course started near Skreen Community Centre before finishing on its mondo track.

Sligo AC’s Shane Hayes was the overall winner in 21:41 after a strong display of front running. He was followed home by North Leitrim’s Liam Feely in 22:13 with North Sligo’s Eamon Murphy 3rd in 22:52. Sligo AC’s Kevin McGlone ran strongly to finish 4th in 23:01. Corran AC’s Sara Doohan won the Ladies Race in 23:51 with East Down’s Catherine O’Connor 2nd in 24:19 and Sligo AC’s Audrey Colreavy 3rd Lady in 25:33. There were good runs by the Sligo AC members. These included Bill Carty 24:21 (12), Sean Colreavy 25:13 (14), Marie Johnston 25:47 (19), Michael Clancy 26:57 (29), Fiona Fahey Gilmartin 27:41 (33), Aishling Cawley 29:49 (43), Enda Whelan 30:23 (48), Hugh McGowan 32:27 (58) and Aidan Kelly 32:38 (59).
