The Sligo Champion

Rovers lotto prizes

-

When local couple Katie and Regan Wallace had a major success in winning the €14,300 Sligo Rovers jackpot, it brought to almost €19,000 the club has paid out in lotto jackpots in the month of June alone. The other lucky recent winners were Thomas Culkin (€2,000) and Sinead Costello (€2,600).

When you include the “Match 3 Tesco Vouchers”, Sligo Rovers lotto has awarded over €24,000 in prizes so far in 2018, confirming its status as the most generous and successful of the local lotteries.

Club Chairman Martin Heraghty said the weekly lotto is a valuable mainstay of the club and expressed his appreciation to Lottery Administrator Frank Beirne and his team of volunteers who oversee the weekly draw.

“The lotto has been a fixture of the club since the early 1990s, and while its format has changed over the years, it has been a consistent and dependable fundraiser which has generated valued revenue for the club.

“The fact that it is a year round draw is a major benefit, and also requires year-round commitment from the team involved.”

Lottery Administrator Frank Beirne said that the many ways of playing is one of the lotto’s main attractions and explains its enduring popularity.

“People can buy the traditional ticket from one of our agents in the normal way, or they might find the annual lotto card more convenient, where their chosen numbers are automatically entered in every weekly draw over the course of the year.

“The online access has attracted regular subscribers among Sligo people living all over the world, and this is an element of the lotto we intend to promote and develop.”
