SUPER SHOW
Day One of the major annual events of community and social life in North Leitrim takes place this Saturday, July 28, when the Manorhamilton Agricultural Show takes place in the Bee Park from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. A Super Show Day programme will have many items of interest for what is expected to be a large attendance. As well as all the standard agricultural exhibits, there will be many other exhibits and activities relating to all other everyday life aspects on display.
A new show day event this year will be a poc fada (long puck) contest with competitions for under-16s, under-12s and all amateurs who want to have a go on the day.
The Manorhamilton Show Office will be open all today (Tuesday), Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. as well as on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Meantime after the Show Day in the Bee Park concludes there will be music on Manorhamilton’s Main Street from 6.30 p.m. on Saturday evening with Seán Corrigan, who will be followed by Ireland’s newest country sensation, Shane Owens.
Fashion Show the Manorhamilton International Wild Rose Festival 2019 will promote a top class Fashion Show in the Bee Park Community Centre on this Friday night, July 27, at 8 p.m. (sharp) and for which the doors will open at 7.30 p.m.
Among the fashion and clothing businesses exhibiting at the International Wild Festival 2019 Fashion Show will be Manorhamilton’s Manor Fashions, Carrick-on-Shannon’s Gerard Anthony Menswear, Sligo’s EJ’s Menswear, Manorhamilton’s Killasnett CoOp and Susan Magee.
The Fashion Show MC will be none other than Ocean FM’s Francie Boylan. The Manor man who is formerly of RTÉ’s the Den Show fame with the one and only Dustin the Turkey, who nearly always made himself a proper nuisance on the show till Francie put him in his place from time to time.
Meantime talented local young songwriter and singer, Saoirse Cummins will provide the Fashion Show’s interval entertainment. The Fashion Show’s promotion is in aid of the staging of next year’s Manorhamilton International Wild Rose Festival.
MAC DIARMADA HOMESTEAD
Guided tours of the homestead of the 1916 Proclamation Signatory, Seán MacDiarmada in Corranmore Kiltyclogher are available free of charge on each Saturday afternoon from midday to 3 p.m. for the rest of the year till Saturday, December 1, Tours of the Seán Mac Diarmada homestead are available on weekdays also; to book please contact the Kiltyclogher Heritage Centre via Facebook or Messenger – kiltyclogherheritagecentre@ gmail.com, or phone 071 9854859.
TOWN TIDY-UP
This week’s town tidyup, which is promoted by Manorhamilton Tidy Town’s Committee, takes place on this Thursday evening, July 26, at 7 p.m. and continues till 8 p.m. Meantime the weekly town tidyups take place throughout the summer months between 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday evenings. The Bee Park Community Centre car park is the assembly point for all the tidy-ups.
