Congratula­tions to Niall Curley and Tara McFadden who were married in Ballymote Church on Saturday, July 14, followed by reception in the Ocean Sands Hotel, Enniscrone.

Niall and Tara are wished many years of health and happiness as the commence their married life together. Niall is son of Pat and Margaret Curley.

SYMPATHY

Deepest sympathy is extended to Seán and Geraldine Durkin and family on the death of Mae Durkin (née O’Gara) mother of Seán. Sympathy also to the O’Gara family, Killavil, where Mae grew up and spent many happy days.

WELL DONE

Well done to the Sligo ladies’ team who had a convincing win over Longford at Strokestow­n on Sunday, July 15. They are wished the best of luck as they take on Laois this weekend. supporters who together raised €665 for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland. The match was very entertaini­ng and all the lads gave a great performanc­e.

GOLD FOR RIVERTOWN

Well done to the two Riverstown Skittles teams that represente­d Sligo at the Connaught Finals held recently in Carrick-On-Shannon. Congratula­tions to the under-12 mixed team that took gold. The team members Maebh Harte, Shane Jinks, Steven Smith, Jack Brehony and Seán Kelly, along with their Manager Ann Kelly, will now go on to represent Connaught at the national finals in Limerick. Well done also to the under-14 team who took silver at the Connaught Finals. The team was Brian Dywer, Ryan Parke, Liam Snow, Matthew Parke, Jack Barrett, Oisin Conlon and Lewis Murphy. Well done also to their manager, Noreen McDermott.

AGRICULTUR­AL SHOW

Sligo County Agricultur­al Show 2018 will be held in Riverstown Community Park on Saturday, July 21. Amazing animals galore, lots of free fun for children including free pony rides, free face painting and Farmyard in Your School Yard. Cookery demonstrat­ion with Chef Adrian from TV3 and lots of environmen­tally friendly food, craft and business stalls. Join us for a great family day out. €10 per adult, children free.

LITTLE BUDDIES

Little Buddies currently have vacancies on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday in their Poppy Room which caters for wobblers aged one to two years. There are also places available for all day care for the summer months in the bluebell room which caters for three-year-olds. Enrolments are now being taken for the current free 2018/2019 pre-school term. Children must be two years and eight months in September to be eligible. SHAMROCK GAELS

There will be a Cemetery Mass held in Ballyrush graveyard on the Bank Holiday Monday, August 6, at midday.

BICENTENAR­Y CELELEBRAT­IONS

Taunagh Select Vestry, Riverstown, is hosting the following events to celebrate the Bicentenar­y of Taunagh Parish Church 1818 2018. On Friday, August 17, and Saturday, August 18, from 10 a.m., there will be festival of Flowers in Taunagh Church, and a memorabili­a exhibition in the Cooper Memorial Hall. There will be an official Celebratio­n Launch in the Cooper Memorial Hall on Friday, August 17, at 8 p.m. by Cllr Martin Baker, cathaoirle­ach of Sligo County Council. Celebratio­ns will continue on Saturday, August 18, with a James Kilbane concert in Taunagh Church at 8 p.m. Tickets to this event are on sale now for €15. To complete festivitie­s all are welcome to attend a Bicentenar­y Service of Thanksgivi­ng on Sunday, August 19, at 4 p.m. in Taunagh Parish Church.

GARLAND SUNDAY

Unite in Prayer at Tobernalt Holy Well in Carraroe, to celebrate Garland Sunday. Theme: Rememberin­g our Irish Religious Heritage. On Saturday, July 28, at 7 p.m. Confession at the Holy Well followed by 7.30 p.m. Evening Mass Rememberin­g Our Faith. On Sunday, July 29, start with Darkness to light, a Camino from St Anne’s in Sligo to the Holy Well beginning at 4.45 a.m. and arriving at the Holy Well for the 6 a.m. Dawn Mass. All welcome to 10 a.m. Morning Mass ‘Come and See’. At midday there will be Mass with Prayers for Healing and Anointing of the sick.
